Dr. Stephan Kühnel is a post-doctoral researcher at the Institute for Information Systems and Operations Research at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and works as lecturer, project leader, evaluation officer, and academic staff representative at the Departments of Business Administration, Economics as well as Business Informatics & Operations Research. He received his Ph.D. in Business Informatics from the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, focusing on approaches for the economic evaluation of business process compliance. The results of his dissertation formed the basis for applying for the BMBF-funded project ProBITS, of which he leads the subproject MEBITS. His practical experience includes both working as a data analyst and data scientist, as well as consulting start-ups and associations on the implementation of regulatory requirements. His research interests are mainly in information security and compliance management, as well as in current challenges of design science and data science projects. His research has been published in journals, such as ACM Computing Surveys, Computers & Security, and Journal of Decision Systems, as well as peer-reviewed conference proceedings, such as the European Conference on Information Systems and the International Conference on Conceptual Modeling.
